It was based a little on vibes and a little on the scientific accuracy available now. Deinonychus, Velociraptor and Yutyrannus absolutely have feathers, and drawing them feathered was way more fun than just smooth scales. Tyrannosaurus possibly had fuzzy down on its back and neck, but nothing suggests they have a large plumage or anything, and I preferred to draw it without. Psittacosaurus and Protoceratops had quills on their tails. Triceratops and Styracosaurus probably had tail quills too, but that was just a vibes thing to omit those ones. So they're only partly accurate here and it's admittedly inconsistent. Also of note, Psittacosaurus is one of the few dinosaurs we know the colour of, but I went against it completely as more of a reference to a toy I had of one being this colour.
OK, I have a question about this piece: how did you decide which of the dinos got feathers and which ones got scales? Is it a scientific accuracy thing or just vibes?
Scelidosaurus is my favorite of the bunch, I think.
Nice coloring! Interesting imaginations for the skins too. These remind me of cereal box toys for some reason.
I like the little tiles you gave them to stand on. Was at the museum last summer so quite appreciate how you rendered these out!
I love all of these. The color scheme kind of makes them look like the most high-end line of plastic dinos a kid could ever dream to own.
These are all incredible. I love so many of them, but I absolutely adore those cute compsognathus. All the poses are so dynamic and characterful.
absolutely amazing. as a life long dino fan this is one of the best pieces of dino themed artwork i have ever seen
Really like how you did the back on the scelidosaurus, works very well with the pose too.
thats so much in 1 month well done!! my fav is the velociraptor
