I'm agree that at the final stage, this logo wasn't ASCII anymore, but you're wrong when you say it isn't using ASCII characters to make it because at the begining I really use ASCII characters to make the line art. I've invented this between 1985 and 1990 during my demoscener's time (I really doesn't know if some others already done the same or if this technic got a name, it's a kind of ASCII-Pixel fusion where ASCII became pixel)

Here is how I do :
1. You need an Amiga and Workbench
2. Run "ASCII Editor"
3. Create a nice ASCII logo (In my opinion, use only characters  like  /  \  _  - |  l  j o O , they are easier for the folowing step)
4. Use a "printscreen" program (Just can't remember the name of it, 1990 is quite far now)
5. Run your "Deluxe Paint", and open the printed screen
6. Now, you just have to complete the white pixels between every characters and you get a nice base to pixel on it.

Nowaday, I just can't do this, because my Amiga 500 is dead and PC have replaced my Amiga 1200. And unfortunately Notepad from Windows isn't so regular verticaly characters spaced than this old good "ASCII Editor". Just look better at the black line of this logo and you will just recognize the "/" , "\" , "-" , "_" and "|" characters.
