Yeh another one I made

I really liked how the backdrop came out though,  since the earlier version had a gradient, http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m102/Josiahiouigi/moreoftehwips.png

there's a few WIPs to the backdrop, one of the textures I used for the canopy, anyway enjoy yet another Mario mockup

thanks, and also the reason it looks too much for Mario's general style is because I'm not going for a simple style, I'm making it less Mario-ish to it, ya see? Also yeah I know the backdrop blends a bit too much with the forground I made that backdrop in an hour or so, and was pretty lazy to do anything lese before submitting :P.  Usually that's what keeps happening when making things, I always seem to make the forgrounds fit in with the backdrops too much before someone else tells me that. Or mabye it's just been happening lately. And the POW block does not use the same palette as the rocky cliff they just seem to appear similar. I know this backdrop seems distracting but the forest one was much worse, until i darkened it. And about the scattered clouds:  Wouldn't it give it a more realistic approach if the clouds were scattered like that? Or not.. I'm not sure  I just don't want it to look that uniform. Thanks for the positive crits though an update shall come, and that backdrop will be fixed, the clouds.. mabye not.

Pretty neat! I really like the colors on the pipe, and the text has a neat look too. I do think your style is a little too much for Mario's general simple style, but it works.

However, I do see some technical errors. For example, your background gets darker as it goes into the sky, when really it's the opposite. When you look at things in the sky, they actually loose contrast and blend into the sky. so really, the back drops should get lighter as they go back, and it might look neater if you gave them some tints of blue. You do have the right idea of simplifying the objects' details and textures though as they go back further. :)

Another major issue is defining what's where. Like, the bushes that are on the ground layer, those blend in too much. (Although, making the large bushes or tree tops dark like I suggest would define them better.) You also make the pallets to similar on each layer. (Or maybe you don't change them... I didn't check. >.>)

In any case, tinting the background colors just a little can make a difference there in defining where things are. "These bushes a little blue, so they're back further." Or, "These bushes are more vibrent, so they're up closer."

I also didn't really see the Goompa or POW block at first either. It may be because all the details make the background a little busy, but I think the colors also play a part. (The POW block almost has all the same colors as the mountain's... or at least color scheme.)

Another thing that kinda sticks out is how the clouds seem a bit random. They're small and scattered far apart, and that doesn't make a lot of sence. Typically, you've got a few clouds if they're small, other wise they'd be big right? :P

But what I said makes the screen seem pretty negative. It's not, it's got some nice stuff going for it, like your pallets for the mountains and bushes, and tile design, but still needs some work.
