Towards the bottom this has a really good sense of depth and form, but at the top you kind of cop out with a pillow-shaded (having unrealistic darker edges and lighter center) area that makes the whole piece look worse. Either have the metal lightest at the edge where it meets transparency, or depict a shadow on the part of the top metal border that's not getting as much light. And welcome to PixelJoint!
Thanks for the feedback, guys. Yeah I gotta work on my shine technique better. @Lil lee: Larwick is correct. I've been doing this stuff for years and I just found this community. I submitted my best works in hope of feedback :).
What is so suspicious about that? He's new to the site and has been a pixeller for a long time, so it's no surprise he wants to submit quite a few of his pieces to his gallery at once. Seems like a bit of an odd comment to make lil_lee, next time unless you're aiding a debate contact a moderator if you see anything suspicious.
Nice shield G-Jay. Seems a bit squished vertically to me, in comparison to the official version perhaps. It's well done though. I think the rendering on the metal is what sortof lets it down - looks a bit like plastic, if you see what i mean. Not enough contrast is to blame. Some referencing for metal shading/texturing should help ya. KUTGW.
