I fixed the issues, and updated the piece... go take a look now.
Oh, haha, sorry about that. Here's a detailed critique:
The shading is all over the place, with no definite light source. It kinda' looks like advanced pillow shading in some areas (I don't know how else to put it). As a sprite, I know it can't really be dithered due to aesthetics (and the general size of the piece), but you should try working out the kinks in your palette. If you play around with the colors and hue/saturation shift, you can make a color table instead of a palette. This will allow you to do many more things than you can now, such as adding more values to your shading, make it look more cohesive, etc.
The folds aren't very accurate. Seems more like you just threw lines in there to make it look rippled. Think of how a skirt would react in the real world if put in that pose. It would be very smooth over the leg that's lifted higher into the air, as it's being stretched out and makes the fabric taught. Then there would be a significant amount of folds and depth where it has to go back to the other leg, which is further back.
Also, her right sleeve (her right, our left) is pillow shaded. Watch that. ;)
And... I'm way too tired to do the anatomy. The main problem areas are her arms and legs, which are inproportionate to both each other and the torso (which means you can't just change the torso to make it work). >:
Thanks for the input, I would have preferred more in-depth details on where exactly did I failed in the shading, and in the anatomy... I will be editing this piece this upcoming month after I'm done working on some other stuff... I can fix these issues, I just know it now that I'm making sure I get this whole shading concept straightened out. :)
About the copyright, I know... I put it up this way so people know I created the sprite, since there are various official sprites for the game done already, and I want to make sure people know I'm responsible for this one lol... I appreciate the information. :D
Your shading needs a great deal of work, as well as your anatomy.
Also, just an FYI, you don't need to put the copyright mark there for you having created it. Anything you create and is original (by design and execution) is automatically copyrighted to you unless stated otherwise. ;)
should follow a light source, instead of making random gradients for every single surface on the character nearly pillowshading it. though you've done the same thing all over your characters in the past submissions, wich is quite disturbing considering i though you were already aware of this and had been advised to change it in the past.
SP: this can be done on 16 colors or less~
