I love the drawing, but pixel art it unfortunately isn't, at least in my book. I would suggest shrinking the image to a quarter of its current size, then pixeling it in.
quite enjoyable for oekaki.. seconding onek here: making pixel-art out of it would be a huge amount of work.
still 3/10 (probably the highest ever rating for an oekaki piece i've given, be proud!)
I really like this.
I completely agree with Manupix, and although I wouldn't dare to open this debate once more, I must say that I'd like to see some more Oekaki being noted around here.
Anyway, I gave this 8/8, same with your other pic.
Yeah I might just leave it alone and try somethign smaller. :s
I never paint ever.
Thanks :) You saw my danger thing, I guess its not pixel art is it? It's 100% exported gif dithering.
I think I get it. I download graphicsgale, I'm gonna see if I can make a small pixel thing. Dithering accurately is hard, so I'm still kind of scribbleing but its all in place...oh well. I wish there was a button to keep me from making more than 1 point at a time (and also mapping of different colors to different keys 4 easy access).
The definition of pixel-art as generally agreed upon on PJ would be: each and every single pixel is under conscious control. Placement and color.
This would exclude this other piece on your website: Danger (did you remove the link to your DA/site? glad I found them earlier!) because of the obvious color reduction (I hope you have another version, I'd love to see it here!).
Those 2 pieces you uploaded are hand drawn all right, but do they actually show pixel-level control? They're huge for PA, and at this size it would be next to impossible to actually achieve that. What you do instead is line drawing.
Now don't get me wrong: I'm not talking about quality here! I think your work is outstanding, and this beyond the mere visual qualities.
I also personnaly would love to see them accepted here, because the pixelled lines give them a very special feel you do control and without which they wouldn't be just what they are. So they do fit in my own loose definition of PA.
I'm just saying that some might not share this view, independently of their liking the work or not.
And, when this is hopefully accepted, please upload lantern, sparks and candles. Others too, but those 3 are just magic.
Edit: cross-posting with onek, sorry.
I must say that for once, I totally disagree with onek's edits! Please don't change a thing, even at the cost of rejection.
this is more like a digital sketch/ oekaki, not rly refined....... in pixel art u are supposed to have control over every pixel in the picture, like rly placing them on purpose... on this big scale its propably not the case. many lines remain jaggy and could use cleaning. also there are a lot of stray pixels all over... id say u go for a smaller canvas next time, like 320x200 (still thats pretty big....) that also is what pixel art is about, to put as much details as possible into something on a very small scale
<<HERE>> is a quick edit of a rather small area, doing this for the whole piece would be tremendous amount of work
Why exactly not? I'm kinda confused, the best I can tell from looking around is that real pixel art has no black lines and is fully painted??
hehe ^^ i just wanted to post something about how this is not pixel art... but yeah....^^ ...
anyway... i think u could add much too the picture by just adding some more shading and depth, to enhance that dramatic feel and to make it less flat and illustrative
Wow. I foresee endless heated debate about whether this is pixel art or not. I don't care, I love it so much. Thanks for sharing.
The preview is a different color?
Really nice start but you need to work on it more.... you might want to go the forum to get help if you want =)
Yeah it's a very nice image but I don't think it belongs here.
