Thx flaber... just took about five minutes to fix a few of those issues.

flaber: This was definitely a "lunch break" piece and I thought it came out pretty good, but I see your points about the ackward foot, ear and hook. I don't really plan on updating the shading or colors much as I want to keep the edits brief.

saboteur:  I might add a sword or knife someday, but I don't think I'll go so far as to add frillyness to his shirt.

 Aye tis nice. Haha, everyones doing pirates now. But thats beside the point...

It has a nice feel to it. However I have spotted a few things to it that slightly bothers me.
I find his hook to be slightly too fat. There is also as far as I can tell no red light source, its just that he is red himself. So the dark section on the back of the hook I feel should be the brown from the hair. That way it still has that dark to it and maby more silvery looking.
the thing the hook connects to should be a bit longer. More rounded out. So perhaps bring it to just under the  fold.
 The dithering from the darkest red to mid-red is quite harsh. Add a few closer together.. a few more checkerboard pieces like you did on the side of the head. Also, round down your dithering on the bandana to help add some curvature.
His right foot (our left) is quite tiny. Yes I know it is facing front and all that. But im not talking about width. It should still have the same depth as the foot on the right. the foot on the left has a depth of 4 pixels and the other 6. They should be quite similar because at the moment his foot on our left looks like it was just chopped off and he has a stump.
Small one I see is on the ear on the right. Its not as rounded at the bottom as the other one is. But easy enough to fix.
Lastly the last thing I can see is that the finger he is using to point with seems thinner than those that are curled in. Yes I know those are his knuckles too, but you could probably elimiate the one pixel at the top of his finger. Where the 4 across are the top then it goes 1, 2,2,1. Eliminate that first one pixel and it should fatten his finger just enough.

I know this is the gallery, but you said you may go back to it, so its always better to know what to fix.
Besides those, looks good. I like the feel to it.

yarrr, where be the frilly cuffs? and details on his shirt... and stuff. Nice, but we all know sedge can do better.
