I didn't (and still don't) know where exactly to go with this. It sure needs a lot of work to be suitable for an actual game. So yeah, should I get back to working on it, I shall give the "platforms" more definition.
Haha yeah, random characters for the win! I'll probably make some animations for the dude in the upper left corner. Glad you like.
The randomness feels like a procedurally generated level. I really like the grayish stone-like pattern you used for the borders and stairs, it makes for a cool visual style. Keep going, it looks like you are on to somrthing there. Very nice work.
So nice and clean.
Did you try making playable grounds just a bit heavier or more defined somehow?
Really like this, especially the colours and pixelling of the characters.
Thank you. The tiles are actually made up of 2-3 layers; one base color, some dirt/detail overlay (the small grainy stuff around the edges) and the stone bricks. I made a couple of variations for every thing and placed tiles with the pseudo-random function activated in Tiled so I didn't have to pick each and every tile manually. Makes for some variety.. but also for a somewhat messy overall look :D Not fully happy with it though. This definitely needs a lot more work and polish.
