If you happen to be in Saxony, Germany this weekend (or just like traveling across Europe to see pixel art) then you should check out the opening of the TriArtLon No.2 exhibition.
The idea behind the exhibition is to get together artists from three different genres into one exhibition. This time it's a combination of fine arts, "girl stuff" :) and pixel art by PJ member tomic. Also, you can order t-shirts with prints of some of the artwork, which will be printed live during the closing night.
Location: The Nikkifaktur t-shirt factory, Dresden.
Opening night: October 29, 7pm.
Exhibit: October 30 - November 11, 5pm - 8pm.
Closing night: November 12, 7pm. Including live band!
It would be nice to see a few Pixel-Jointers there to have a chat and/or a beer with.
As Halloween is just around the corner, we want you to make something scary. Not just anything scary though, we want you to present something mundane or pleasant in a scary way. So for example, an evil grandma or a man-eating goldfish.
Try to be as imaginative as you possibly can - this means you should attempt to avoid common horror motifs such as evil dogs, creepy clowns or scary pumpkins etc...
Credit for the challenge idea goes to Cure.

Back by popular demand, another C64 challenge. There's a lot of info here, so make sure you actually look over it.
There's no specific theme this week, instead you must only use 4 colours out of the available 16. Your piece does not have to adhere to any particular C64 restrictions (these are detailed in the links below). However, it must use one of the palettes shown below - either Pepto's palette, or Ptoing's adjusted version of that palette.
Optional Bonus Challenge: Use correct mcol (multicolour mode) restrictions - this means create the image using double width pixels. See the first link below for more information on different modes.
A bunch of useful links and a Grafx2 script:
Canvas Size - Exactly 320 (width) x 200 (height).
Colours - Exactly 4. Pick 4 colours from one of the 16 colour palettes below. No palette swapping, you either use Pepto's palette or Ptoing's palette.

The following pixel artists produced Pixel Joint's top rated pixel art for September 2010. Many thanks go out to this month's top pixel artists and all the members who took time to rate.
How about we go for a small challenge this week: create a full body sprite of bigfoot. A yeti is fine too.
Canvas Size - Max 50 x 50.
Colours - Max 17. Remember, this number includes transparency.
Transparency - Required.
Animation - Optional.

***INCOMING TRANSMISSION***
The following message has been sent from Gliese 581 g and translated into English:
Greetings Earthlings, we have noticed that you have just discovered our planet. Do not fear though, as we are a peaceful people. To prove that we mean no harm, we are sending you a sampling of some typical television broadcasts from our planet.
***END TRANSMISSION***
You, the ambassador of Earth (and talented pixel artist), have decided to show that us humans also mean no harm. To do this you've decided to create a piece of pixel art that shows a scene from one of their alien TV shows.
It can be any show you like; be it a sitcom, a gameshow, a news broadcast, whatever. Anything is fine as long as it's clear that it's a TV show originating from another planet (namely, Gliese 581 g)
Canvas Size - Unrestricted.
Colours - Max 32.
Transparency - No.
Animation - Optional.
