My interest in pixel art really picked up in the last few weeks. I've started adding little 45x45 pixel characters to a giant Photoshop canvas. The 45x45 size is perfect for me for pixel art characters - 32x32 seems too small and 48x48 seems too big.
One of my favorite icons so far is Gordon Freeman, the lovable Half-Life protaganist.
NOTE: Yeah, yeah, I know these are not desktop icons for Windows, Mac or Linux. Using "icon" is just an easy (and accurate) way to refer to these little bastards. A thousand apologies if I've mislead you. "Pixel art characters" is too damn wordy.
I'll like to start cracking on some actual desktop icons someday (which fit into 16x16, 32x32, 48x48 and 64x64 sizes), but I don't have a decent application for making icons so f it.
