Transparency - No.
Animation - Optional.

The challenge thread will have all the challenge updates. The thread is also a great place to post your WIPs.

"Commodore 64: For the Love of a Machine" is a book project by Andreas Wallström about the C64 with lots of interviews of people who helped create the machine as well as game makers and demo sceners, and of course pixel art as well.

The campaign is running for another week and could need a bit of a boost.

Have a look at the campaign page and see if it tickles your fancy.

You've been clamoring for it and here it is! This is PixelJoint's (almost) yearly April Fools Gallery challenge but with a twist!

Your task: Create a piece while immitating the style of another pixel artist.

The idea is to study an other pixel artist's style, techniques, color usage, etc and try to fool us into thinking the piece you create is theirs! (Note: Outright plagiarism will not be tolerated)

Bonus challenge: Make your piece Easter related in some way. Extra points will be awarded to those who do .

Make sure to mention the name of your chosen pixel artist in your description.

Previous April Fools Gallery challenges can be found here: [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]

Canvas Size - Unrestricted.
Colours - Unrestricted.
Transparency - Optional.
Animation - Optional.

The challenge thread will have all the challenge updates. The thread is also a great place to post your WIPs.

A new pixel-art t-shirt design challenge will open soon at Threadless. Let's do this, PJ!

However before you rush to post your fave pixel pieces, take the time to think hard about what makes a good t-shirt design, as opposed to a good piece of art (pixel or otherwise). Great shirt designs usually have a strong underlying concept, and make use of the shirt background color as a prominent design element. Beware of boxy (rectangular) designs that don't have a good reason for boxyness (such as fake film posters, comics pages etc).

The challenge opens a week from today, and should last for 2 more weeks. You can already ask for feedback on the Threadless forums. Trigger warning: it can be a tough crowd to please out there!

Also be aware that chances of print are very slim, well under 1%. Do this as a chance to compete and improve, not to make easy money. Now pixel away!

PJs next isometric collaboration has begun in the forum.
This time, we are going to build a pirate island(s). First time this round, the borders must end with water. Anything related to the general pirate feel is cool. Several examples are: caves, buildings, forts, piers, ships (floating or not), pirates , palms, treasures, ghosts, skeletons, and any fantasy element as long as they are pirate-y.
Welcome to the ISObbean. Yaaaarrrrrr!

This project features Dawnbringer's's award winning palette.

Hello fellow pixel artists,

I got a hint that some lady is selling some of our pixels as listing at etsy.com;
Some of her listings look very familar to me. One certain submarine too familar.
(already reported)

Happy Hunting.

Without question Shoot 'em Ups are fun to play. However, the common space theme sometimes just doesn't cut it. Time to be more creative!

Pixel a player "ship" that isn't your generic spaceraft. A plant with guns, an animal that poops rockits, anything goes! You can choose between a top-down and side-scrolling perspective.

Canvas Size - Max. 150 x 150.
Colours - Max. 16.
Transparency - Required.
Animation - Optional.
