Old news perhaps, but this little website is a delight for anyone who's a fan of the comedy of Ricky Gervais aka David Brent from award winning British comedy The Office.
Read all about Gervais' 80's new romantic band 'Seona Dancing' and listen to a couple of sample tunes. It's great just to see the photo comparison. Ricky looks more like David Bowie than David Brent!
Check out these interesting creations by artist David Chatt. They're three dimensional sculptures of everyday objects and figures made entirely from tiny glass beads, interestingly enought they sort of resemble pixel art (if you squint and cover your eyes). My personal favourite is number 9 of 12.
Thanks goes to my girlfriend Justine for spotting these.
What a brilliant contest. Sci Fi Channel is looking for people to dress up as their own original super hero characters for a new TV show. The winner gets fame and glory as well as getting to have their own comic book produced by Marvel Comics under Stan Lee.
"Finalists will leave their former lives behind and live as their brainchild heroes 24/7, all under Stan Lee’s watchful eye. Each week, our aspiring heroes will be challenged with competitions designed to test their true Superhero abilities. "
If only I lived in America. I'd be able to dress up as my own hero Black Hole (plug intended).
John K, creator and genious behind Ren and Stimpy, is running free, thats right, FREE drawing lessons! His blog, an infinite source of cartooning wisdom and wackiness, is now home to John K's very own drawing class. Read his instructions, pick up a pencil, and DRAW. Indie game maker Bernie, responsible for 'Cedric and the Revolution,' 'A Game with a Kitty' and its recent sequel, has just released his a new game entitled 'Reactor 09.' It's an adventure game that revolves around a convicted murderer in a high security futuristic prison and the anal prison guard employed to reform him.
It deals with slightly more adult themes than Bernie's previous games, but there are still plenty of delicious pixel graphics to appease all your pixel needs. The game makes use of an innovative ‘trust’ system that determines the outcome of play.
Download the game here and support the indie gaming industry!
Are you looking to waste a few hours running around a pixel fantasy land?
Well indie game maker Nifflas might have just what you're after. He makes addictive adventure games that are largely based around exploration. The majority of the artwork is rendered in very simple pixel art. Nifflas' latest release, Knytt Stories, is a compilation of several smaller games.
Last weekend Ivan Dixon (aka iSTVAN) competed in the Global Game Jam 2011, a 48 hour game making competion themed "extinction." Ivan and programmer Conor O'kane produced an insect themed shoot 'em up called "The Last Flight of the Bumblebee" full of pixel arty goodness.
You can download it for PC and Mac here and watch the Youtube trailer here.
The game won "Best Graphics" and "Participants Favourite" at the Melbourne Game Jam.
