A team led by Iowa State University anthropology professor Jill Pruetz witnessed the spearing of a bushbaby in Fongoli, Senegal, during an observation of chimpanzees from March 2005 to July 2006. In a study being released Thursday in the online version of the journal Current Biology, Pruetz documents 22 cases of chimps using spear-like tools to hunt bushbabies (a small primate that lives in hollow branches or tree trunks).

At least two Picasso paintings, worth a total of nearly $66 million, were stolen from the artist's granddaughter's house in Paris, police said Wednesday. The paintings, "Maya and the Doll" and "Portrait of Jacqueline," disappeared overnight Monday to Tuesday from the chic 7th arrondissement, or district, a Paris police official said.

Three 18 year olds may be on the roll of getting a $6,450 fine if a court decides that their "festive firecrackers" outside a German farm scared the mojo right out of an ostrich named Gustav. The farmer said he may have lost 14 offspring (each worth about $460) because this ostrich couldn't get in the mood.
