Just in case it's ever relevant again I feel like I have to point you toward Guido Mocafico's Serpens photo series for inspiration when it comes to drawing scales.

Wonderfully done.  It was a treat seeing you slowly refine in on details with each WIP.

Insanely well done.

Thanks, and you got it exactly.  The theme for the collab this time around is mythology.

Now the rulers of the Philistines assembled to offer a great sacrifice to Dagon their god and to celebrate, saying, “Our god has delivered Samson, our enemy, into our hands.”

Absolutely incredible work.

Looks like something taken straight out of the old adventure game Loom.  Great use of a difficult pallet.

So much of this is well done.  I particulatly love the hair and gold embroidery.  That little fold on the sleeve as well is just fantastic.  It seems like such a small detail but really helps sell it as not just fabric, but silk.  The animation could use some clean up but the only thing that really bothers me here is her ankle.  Which seems just a bit too narrow.  Especially since the pose should make her achilles tense.

Yeah it's someone pushing some indian hotel.  Probably a weak attempt at SEO.

The way you've slowly shifted colors makes it hard not to imagine a gradient.  With this and the Cube Tree you posted earlier you seem to be cultivating a very unique style.

Was this actually hand done?  It looks like what you'd get out of Floyd-Steinberg dithering.

The application it was made for requires sprites to be 10x10 tiles.  The jaggyness on the shoulder is a result of trying to squeeze a few extra tiles out of it but yes it could use a bit more smoothing.

Thank you.  It was definitely a learning experience.  Hopefully with more practice I'll be able to make something basic without it taking so long.

Tidy pallet, clear lines.  This is a really crisp piece.

Esven @ 9/12/2018 20:32 commented on Blink Dagger

Nicely done.  What was your technique for the background disk?  It just seems to have a different style to it and a much large pallet spread than the dagger itself so I imagine some manner of brush was used.  Not that that's an issue I'm just curious.

Really great composition and I'm a real fan of a lot of the detailing and the general feel of the pallet.  That being said I feel like you should flatten the image and give it some pixel level cleanup and color reduction.  I was really blown away be the image at first and I think it has a lot of potential that it almost sees through, looking closer though I can still see very clear signs of layer opacity being used, lots of floating pixels, and just generally a need for cleanup.

I want to be clear as an artist you're fantastic.  I think you've really got some serious skill and doing this in only 5 sessions.  I'm genuinely impressed.  From the perspective of pixel art I think this lacks an attention to pixel level detail and it ignores many of the defining principles and techniques of pixel art.   Does that mean it's bad, of course not, but I think you'll get some criticism here for it.

This is one of those things that looks easy but can take a while to actually get looking right.  Especially with how bright a shade of yellow that is on the highlight.  Well done.

Great work.  The mic feels a little out of place with the rest of the piece though given that there's actually a larger pallet for it than there is for Rick Astley.  It's well done on its own to be certain, just feels a little off to me.

960x420, I don't blame you for not wanting to look at it a moment more that's a really ambitious size for a weekly contest piece not to mention animating it.  It turned out really well I think though.  Some fantastic detail for two colors.

Esven @ 12/19/2017 21:09 commented on T.V Head

Much better.  I didn't dislike the darker one it looked like a silloutte which I thought was kind of an interesting effect, as far as just a demonstration of pixel art goes though I think this one seems better even though it's exactly the same with a slight pallet shift.

user
Esven @ 12/17/2017 22:59 commented on T.V Head

A fun concept but maybe not a very consistent effect.   On my kind of crappy monitor I actually have to look at the screen on an angle to see that there are different colors.  Whereas if I load it up on my phone, which has a newer screen, I can see the difference more easily.   At first I honestly thought this was just a silloutte.   I can appreciate trying something different though.

Really impressive 16-color mode art is a lot more challenging than I think most realize and you've done a lot with it.  My only real complant would be the 2x2 grey megapixel in the cheek of the female character on the left.  Otherwise it all flows really well for the limitations.

This character reminds me Tatsumaki from One Punch Man.  Well done you've gotten a lot of personality out of some really simple effects.
