My only complaint is that the animation seems a bit slow... for my tastes, at least lol. Otherwise, very nicely done. I'm diggin' the shot/bullet/smoke. :D

The AA on the edges stand out really badly on a darker background, but it's otherwise nicely done! :)

The shading around Banjo's nose kinda bothers me, but this is still great nonetheless. I'd love to see more! :D

Excuse me, but this is mine. I created this over a year ago.

Here's the PJ link if you don't believe me: http://www.pixeljoint.com/pixelart/31726.htm

Wow, this is great. Looks almost real to me. My only complaint is the pixels on the bottom right. They stand out too much to me. But even still, very nicely done!

I love this. The animations I've seen by you are all superb. The only thing that bothers me is that the animation seems choppy when he smokes the cigarette. Otherwise, this is great. :)

I will have to agree. The cape looks great, but his body could use something more. Also, did you notice there is a stray white pixel in the top right corner?

user
BobSmith006 @ 4/26/2009 14:27 commented on Viera

Not all of it. I'm mainly talking about the shading on the ears. It looks really jaggy compared to the rest of it.

My only complaint is that I think it should be AA'd. But other than that, this is great.

BobSmith006 @ 4/21/2009 14:07 commented on Flamethrower Effect

My only complaint is how the flame ends. It would not "dissolve" into air (for lack of a better term) into 2 circles as you have it now. The entire stream would "dissolve" upwards, fading away from its original shape. Kinda like the circle on the right, how it fades up and away. The circle on the left doesn't work at all.

But other than that, I see nothing else wrong. Very nice flame. :D

Well first off, you will want to define just what shape it is. That will be the first and foremost step before you can even attempt to shade it properly.

Now, after that, just follow your light source (which seems to be coming somewhere between the bottom and left sides), and you'll define your shapes. The light source you have now is kinda vague, but it may work later on, depending on what you want to do.

BobSmith006 @ 3/28/2009 16:51 commented on Alien Overlord

Not bad for a first attempt. Here are some things I noticed:

I agree with Windwhisper that it's hard to tell what the shape is because of the way it's shaded. The right side of it (I don't know what to call it... I'm talking about the area around the orb on the very right) looks like it tilts back behind the middle of the body, while the left side looks like it's coming out in front of the middle. That kinda confuses me.

I like the design of the pink orbs, but they look flat. The shading on the purple helps make them look more 3-D, but because of the shading inside the orbs themselves, they don't look like they pop out. Unless the orbs are lit up themselves, the shading would follow the light source, like everything else.

The shading and shines on the claws don't follow the light source, so you might want to take a look at that. The eyes would be the same way.

But like I said, it's not bad for a first attempt. It has a lot of potential, and I think you could work wonders with it with practice and making adjustments. Also, if you get into pixel art enough, practice it a lot, and improve your skills, I'd love to see a revamp of it. Just remember: practice makes perfect!

Oh, and welcome to PJ.

The perspectives don't match up, but I like it nonetheless. The textures are nice, and I really like that closest tree on the left. :D

My only critique is that the shines don't match up, but other than that, I like it. I see nothing wrong with the green. ;)

Yeah, they're too bright for the rest of it. When I was doing them, I tried to darken them up, but it looked stupid IMO. So I kept them the way they are. ^^;

I based this off of one of my drawings, which was of a picture of noodles clumped together. It's supposed to look more abstract than anything... according to my art teacher, it adds rhythm.

Folk: Actually, I've seen a real brain, and I think it was more yellow.

Ricki: Hadn't thought about that. I'll definitely try to add that.

Badassbill: I wasn't sure how else to effectively shade it. Like, for example, I didn't want to dither a lot because I didn't want it to look really rough.
