@hatch: i started with pixelart in the mid. 80s. It was the time when Atari STe and Amiga 500 dominated the market. Back then i used the top: pixel program, which was "Neochrome master" on the Atari ST. The program allows 16 out of 4096 colors. I did not (!) do any pixelpainting for about 10 years now.... :(

PC Steem Engine is an emulator for the Atari STe.

I am still looking for a clever alternative to this "oldtimer" combination. Can you recommend Grafx2?

Wow, i like the style. It seems to me like a mixture of a wolf and a dragon. The expresson on the face is exacly as you decribed. Did you paint this one with a foreign reference or did you create your own one?

AA - meaning Antialiasing or smoothing the edges

You already put an enormous amount of work into it. Nice colors and a lot of dithering. Please take these words to encourage your work: If this is your first background, i´ve got some valuable advice. (This advice helped me a lot in the past!) To make the sky more interesting, take a look at a photo reference of a sky on a really stormy day. Add some (cleverly made) clouds - it makes the picture more lively.

Tells a story, good use of colors. You´ve got it!

looks like a lot of work. I´m irritated on the question, where the main light source is located. To give the fish more more depth you could enhance the palette with shades of darker green and sand.

Hi zwecki,

you are right! My pictures in the 90s were inspired by the leading atari sceners like TEX and of course ES.

@ frost: you got a point: blending is no pixel-by-pixel work.

btw: which program do you use? Your pictures are wonderful!
