Ooo, Interesting! I saw a video of these being made a while ago, but I didn't know what they were called. They've definitely got the same sort of symmetry, and I constructed all these shapes from curved lines(perhaps somewhat analogous to the way the shape of sound waves determine the final shape of chladni figures)
