The only thing I'm not 100% sure about is the dithering, but that depends on the overall style of the game I guess. And so do, IMO, the colors which seem a tad dull if you see the piece on its own, but might be just right as to not disturb when used as a background. Anyway, good work, I'd like to see more!  

 Great work on the pose, but he is flat in the middle, I would add some shading there, too.

 I really like the design, but yeah, you went a little crazy on the dithering. Its addictive, isn't it?
