I don't see why not.  The image was created in gimp using just the penil and zoom tool.  The basic shape was built using a larger brush (no tracing) and the details were built using the smallest brush.  The reference you post is correct, I did not provide it as believe the original artwork this is based on is famous enough that everyone must be aware of it, to provide it would be like posting an image of the Mona Lisa. (although I guess some cultures may not have heard of queen OR the Mona Lisa).

It might be useful to know why do you think it might not be pixel art.

This is great!  I've been trying to find Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko style pixel art recently without much success, so your piece is exactly what I've been searching for :)

That single pixel was probably a bad idea, I got "animator lock" if there is such a thing, and wanted to make everything move.  The lower left room is indeed the bath room, and the person in there has had a bit too much to drink.  That part in particular isn't drawn too well, so it can be difficult to see what's happening.

I would have liked to have done more with the dog, but for my skill level and available time this was already a challenge.

I'm particularly fond of the animation on the sleeping man, and the women in the red dress.
