 Ah ok, I was told Dithering was also used to combat banding.
Though I must admit I haven't learned how to AA yet. 
I was focusing my time on other things like shading or palette.

 One day I'd love to do the rest.
My main problem is I actually can't draw, which means sometimes I struggle with simple things. In this case it was his shoulders.

 I'm not sure if this changes anything (or if it was obvious)
But the main or only lightsource (I can't remember, it was while ago)
Is coming from the eyes. that's why it's mainly focused on the front.

And I'm aware of the banding, this is before I knew about dithering. I'm trying really hard to learn how to dither now. But I'm finding it difficult.
