i loved cybernator. i was going to enter this challenge with the same style but got to lazy.

it is great, but as crazy as i might sound, i think it lacks a lot of detail.

the bridge looks great, but the main body lacks the said detail. the original had moring locks or canons, whatever they are. While i am not saying that you should have copied the original, i am saying you could have sprooced it up a bit.

spruced? whatever.

but i like it anyway. Good taste in sidescrolling ships.

Great work, love the style. Reminds me very much of Odin Sphere. the only comment that i have is that the wings look a little out of place without some sort of outline like the rest of the character.

I loved that movie. need to watch it again. I feel you really have captured Bruce Cambell's face with those huge eye brows and the blade of hair resting on his forehead. but there are some jumping pixels like dumbo said...

Where are the energy tanks? how many missles does she have? what is with those statues? these are some questions that need to be adressed if this is meant to a good representation of the metroid game.

the colors are a little abnoctious too

what it looks like to me is a screen shot from a low poly rcing game. i think that the tires are believable but the grass looks like it was a image that was plased onto a mesh and angle and the rims look size reduced. If i am wrong i hope you will take no offence.

edit, what thorughs the grass off to me is that it looks motion blured. that is something that you get in video games and TV. i have not seen a pixel artist ever try to render something like that, so i am skepticle.

there is nothing wrong i see with cheating a little bit with a background, but not telling us initially is very sneaky. Again, if i am wrong tell me so...

that hiding thing is a lot like the game from blizzard called Black throne. however you had a shot gun instead of thaat pistol like thing. if you havent played Blachthorne, you should. i think you could use it for inspiration

Oh you haven't seen how rotten cherries can get. they look like santa claus... let me explain. it starts off with a bruse that is tan colored and wrinkly. they some white mold grows around it and completes the look with a beard and a furry rim to his red hat and a pom-pom. now picture a whole gallon bag full of those and me sorting through all of it... that is the Christmas spirit!

Grayscale is fine by me. i would definetly play it.
But, it could always turn to color at certain points of intence mood/emotion. Wizard of oz was black and white and then later turned to color.

it need the yellow and red colors in the mid section and upper torso... look at the references to see where exactly where. it is great though. proportions are off a bit but it looked like you meant it to be a little abstract...

wow... one thing  i noticed is that his tail comes out pretty easily. also it looks almost as if on thy is longer than the other his left one to be specific... maybe it is just the perspective...

that is really goot. did you do any preliminary work such as  big paper scetches that you scaned in, or did you do it all on the computer in that scale? i am facinated to know the steps of creating this.
I like how the helmets/hats are going to be a separate sprite. allows individuality and custimisability. i am assumeing that weapons will also be a separate sprite?
Also, is it really necissary for there to be that many angles? most tactics sprites that i have seen have only 4 angles...
