Thanks! Good point about the cave entrance actually, I initially made this tileset with smaller characters in mind, that's a bit of a hold-over. Might update it in a bit and change that.

You'd be well served by upping the contrast a bit. A lot of detail is lost when all the colors are so similar in value. Great work overall, you have a good understanding of anatomy, even with regards to anatomically impossible human creatures.

@ptoing: WOW that looks really cool. I was making this with NES restrictions in mind but I forgot my palette had some desaturated colors in it. It looks so cool with the bright NES colors. When I get some spare time I do want to see if I can implement these tiles in a game of some kind.

Looks really great, I like the overworld sprites particularily. Only thing I would change is making the front/back view sprites bob up and down like the side view sprite, for consistency and livelyness. The portrait I think could really use some work to make it less busy and more coherent. Try focusing more on using shading to show form, and using larger clusters of color, rather than focusing so heavily on smoothing and anti-aliasing.

Anyways, I really dig this. The palette really captures the SNES feel.

I would advise using a much darker color for the outline, as it stands it looks more like the face is being blended into the background, rather than cleanly separated from it.

Looks great. I think you would be well served by adding a little more motion to the attack animations though. In fact, the frames of the little red guy leaning forward for his dash could easily be resued for the attack animation. Right now, it looks like he's just sort of lazily flicking his sword, without putting any weight into it.

Also maybe throw some motion bluring/smearing on the green guy's attack animation so it's more clear what he's doing.

Really great stuff overall though.

very confused by the shading on this one. the consistent highlight around the edges seems to imply that it's flat like a button, and the little line down the middle makes it look like it's sort of... folded. You'd be much better served by a single, circular highlight somewhere on the ball's surface.
