Then I hope you've seen the south park episode with crab people. 

They're nice. The double-outlines (black then white) makes them look like they're glowing, but nothing wrong with that. Maybe they're magic crabs. I think they're well-coloured and have a nice personality, they almost look like they want to be chomping on a cigar and cussing out passers-by. 

Love this. Lots of personality. Makes me think of caricatures of old-timey gangsters. 

I love these, I think you made really great use of space and colour. The dainty single-pixel hands/feet really work for me, and the wide detailed faces. 

It's great. Love the points of light on the city windows. Don't think they work as well as reflection on the opera-house, confuses my eye a bit, as if there are windows on there and wrong perspective. Everything else about this is really well-done in my opinion.

Thank you for alerting me to that, it will save me a lot of embarrassment and colour-counting by hand. I used a transparency tool in an earlier incarnation of it (which is how I had 15 colours) but I guess I didn't save that or reverted the changes. I hadn't realized what was meant by actual transparency (i.e. having a fully transparent background or section). It's fine, I learned something :)

Thanks for the kind comments! I've looked at some better ways to do rain (with a faux transparency, and different methods of repeating images), and agree that if I had used darker browns for the wood it would have been much more effective. The path could respond to the lightning as well.

My mistake, I mis-read the contest rules. Thank you for pointing out the 11 colours though, I would not have realized the black background counts. I reposted it after correction in the forum thread, but I understand that there is only 1 submission allowed per contest and I flubbed this one. Will try again next week.
