This is really impressive, especially considering how quickly you made it!

Thanks.  The red was pretty hard to see without zooming in wasn't it?  I changed it now.

Ah ok, I gave it the same name, thanks for the tip!

Thanks for the feedback VR.  The left arm was certainly one of the more difficult parts, and I always struggle a bit with hair.  I think I was trying to get too much detail at such a low res (or more than I am capable of at my current skill level anyway).  I have changed it so the upper arm is all one thickness, changed that mid grey to be more visible with the default theme, and tried to resolve the banding you mentioned.  I'm still not completely happy with the hair but I think it looks better than before.

nevermind, it came through :)

How long does it usually take for edits made to pixels in the gallery to be displayed?

The hair looks really good

All very good points Jal.  I guess over time you would see a lot of regular PJers progress.

It also impresses me how much detail (or at least how much 'implied' detail) some people manage to fit into a relatively small pixel, so I guess sometimes an 'epic' pixel doesn't have to be a huge undertaking, although I would imagine a lot of time and effort goes into larger pixels.

White Red Eye @ 12/17/2014 05:38 commented on Big Bird

Thanks for clearing that up RAV and Jal.  I usually only rate things I like, but I didn't want to rate anything lower than 3 in case it reduced the score.  However there is a fair amount of variation in the level of effort that goes into things (eg a small sprite can look really good but obviously takes less work than an some of the epic landscape or scene mockups) so it's good to know I can give someone a couple of points without inadvertadly wrecking their rating :)

White Red Eye @ 12/17/2014 03:48 commented on Big Bird

How does the rating system working anyway?  For example when you rate a pixel as '1' does it increase it's score by 1 point or does it average to a score out of five?

I second arth, it doesn't look like something from Doom, but it's a really interesting piece.  I like it.

I really like how it's instantly recognizable as the start of Super Mario even with such a tiny screen, It just goes to show how much detail pixel art can portray with a small number of pixels.

Thanks, I was a huge fan of Shining Force I and II on genesis/megadrive!  The tutorial I based it off uses Locke from FFVI as a reference sprite, It comes out quite small in 1:1 but the details stand out quite well I think.  I'm learning to do more complicated pieces slowly, I'm pretty new to art in general :)

This scene is stunning!  I really love this kind of artstyle.  I'm really interested in seeing the finished game, keep up the good work!
