Well dangit.. guess I'm gonna have to find some way to spunk her up a bit. I think the background idea isn't bad. I'm not very good at backgrounds though and with only 16 colors to work with I don't know what I could manage. I think I'll have to give it a go though..

I would have chosen different colors but being its for a palette contest.. I'm kinda' stuck with what I've got. lol Though I could have made her outfit brown or pink or grey... my favorite just happened to be .. well the blandest.. lol

As for a possible background ideas.. hmm.. have to sleep on that one.

I love the little imperfections in her face and the texture of the cloth on her head is really beautiful. I'm amazed at how so few colors can go so far..

Thank you so much! I have no idea if I'll win though I hope I will. Even if I don't I think this peice has really helped me improve and expand the way I approach doll making. Ok sure dolling isn't what most people would probably call 'art' but its its own art form.. lol

Yeah using that pattern technique in dolling can be tricky and I've never been a strong shader. I do think though this particular peice has really started my own little journey of discovery. Hopefully in the future I'll have improved enough to be able to look back.. and truly see it for the peice of crap it is. haha At the moment.. I'm lovin' my Jamaican woman.

lol yeah.. the dithering comes from my compulsive need to 'tweek'...
