Hey all I'm pretty new to the pixel art community, i have been working in the medium for around a month to a month and a half so not very much time at all... i was wondering if some of you nice folks would be willing to help me and critique my work, i'm just wondering if i'm on the right path or if i'm making some consistent errors in my work?

I'm always working on a new project once i finish one i begin another immediately and try to always improve, but i don't want to form bad habits or repeat common errors over and over

any help is appreciated!

this is my newest piece

the rest of my work can be viewed at http://hahnt.deviantart.com
or http://hahnt.tumblr.com

i have a number of works completed already so if someone would be willing to look at even just a few of them it would be very helpful!

That's nice!

The door on the right is a little puzzling though in the 'nice' room as the surround is just 1 pixel it looks a little drawn on a flat wall rather than an actual door unlike the other door which seems more real.

Then when it changes and this may be me missing the point where the double door was is now metal wall support which kind of breaks the illusion for me as that wouldn't be there if there had been a double door?,

ok i see what you mean i completely missed the fact that it was 'flat' ill correct that once im off work thanks for catching that, after about 10 hrs of consistent work i guess it can happen haha
and i see what you mean about the grating/supports to be honest i just wanted to include that in the idea and had nowhere else to put it lol, ill look over it and look in to fixing it :)
thanks alot for the reply!

I think it would be really neat to have light come in through the window with that blade blocking it. Something to look forward to doing later on at least xD.

I also noticed there are no highlights from the light sources, that could be intended though x3.

Good work :).
I like the way you think.

you know i wanted to do that so much i thought it would look really badass! but theres so many light sources in the otherworld pic 3 window spaces plus virtually 3/4 or more of the floor and im not experienced enough to light it properly >_< but its one of those pieces i will return to i think as i get better and better

thank you very much! i appreciate that
