So, this is the beginning stage of a character, meant to be a fat giant or ogre of some sort. I didn't work with a specific reference image, but rather sketched out the lineart and some of the shading on paper before redrawing in photoshop. Everything is at a rough stage right now, some pixels may not be clean, but I'll get there soon. I wanted to make sure the big picture is looking right before I get into details. I'm looking for some specific feedback.

1. General feedback on the anatomy. This is not aimed to be true to life, things are exaggerated, but I'd like to know what is and especially what isn't working for the overall anatomy.

2. Feedback on the shading. I've filled in large areas of color without getting into detail, as I might need to make big changes. Feedback on the locations of my shadows would be helpful, if they fall in the right spots based on my fictional lightsource (the light part of the belly is what I'd like to base the rest of it off of.

3. Hands. This is the part that is probably giving me the most trouble. I'm unsure how to approach the hands and make it fit with the rest of the image. I think the one I have there is too small, and looks too flat compared to everything else. I even originally had his right arm up to hold a club over his shoulder, but I couldn't even figure out how to start on that. Any tips on hands are appreciated.

Any and all feedback is appreciated, even if it isn't an answer to any of the topics above, I just need a bit of help moving forward. I'm a newer pixel artist, so it's been a rocky start at things, hoping to learn and improve the best I can. Thanks in advanced.

The problem with the hand is that it doesn't have enough palm. The palm of the hand is at least as long as the fingers, often longer.

The feet look flat, both in that the foot on he left doesn't have an arch, and in that the foot on the right doesn't appear to rise in the middle, it seems to have a horizontal surface.

Where is your light source? It's clearly somewhere to the left, but the shoulder gives the impression that it's below the character, while the viewer-left leg seems to be lit from above.

What is your goal with this piece? Is it a sprite for a game, an illustration, something else? I ask because you're not using perspective, which is perhaps appropriate for a game sprite, but it also means you're missing out on an opportunity to show the character's size.  If, for example, we saw the feet from the front like current, but everything else seemed to be viewed from below-ish, the character would appear to be much taller than the viewer. Photo example.

I think the arm is just a bit too short.

His right breast also appears to be from a side view perspective but should probably be more three quarter-ish to agree with the gut.
