My girlfriend and I are recreating all my music making tools in pixel style. So far I've gotten the main setup done, but we'll be adding more and more!
[Link to larger version] I'll probably start posting things individually here once I have the time to sort through which are completed and which need work. |

A GameBoy? As a music making tool? Explain, please. Sounds interesting. :>

Bad doc someone did on me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oI0jXaJpO-o
Better example of me rocking out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=taulQPwxYzo Music is all composed by me in a program called LSDJ, there's no sampling and it's not video game music. There's a whole scene based on music made on old computers and video game consoles called chip music or "chiptunes". Edited by jefftheworld - 09 April 2010 at 11:13pm |

There's a GameBoy ROM called LSDJ (LittleSoundDJ). It's nothing but a music tracker for the GameBoy, which has a bunch of features to let you control the audio output of the device to build and save music.
You just get the ROM and write it to rewriteable cartridge using a USB/serial port data transfer hardware. Or you can buy the cartridge already written for you if you want to skip that. LSDJ is quite fun to play around with, and there's lot of chiptune artists that use it exclusively. It's definitely worth checking out. I have my own modded GameBoy (the original ones, also known as DMG) with blue backlight just to use LSDJ. Modding it was tricky, but I managed to not f**k it up. :) Edited by 1ucas - 09 April 2010 at 11:33pm |
