working on my portfolio (which is severily lacking in colour). so i started with something i can do quickly, pretty women, but i'm not happy yet. this is about oneandahalf hour of work. i'm working on vanilla paint.NET

reference:

i'd apreciate some C+C even though this isn't pixel art

are you trying to make the face look like in the reference or are you following the reference more loosley? I dont want to tell you where youre off if its not your intention to make it look just like her.

i'm not trying to be a human xerox machin. i'm trying to catch the flapper spirit, the reference pic inspired me but that's it

You should try to create more volume with more contrast and shading. The shading around the lips makes them look too 2-D. Nice work on the hand.

thanks, i wasn't shure about the hand yet, thought it was a bit too large.
i experimented with the shading a bit. added a darker hue.

the thing is going to be a poster so i rescaled it a bit and added a dark backgound and i'm gonna put "bees knees" in a terribly tall font in the backgound too.

the lips seem a bit pointy to me and the eyes are kind of rectangular. I dont really think the purples in the skin palette go that well with the red lips either, but that might just be me- like Cure said though, the hand is great.
