I was wondering if I could get some comments on this soldier?
I am thinking that I might have gone too small with it. Maybe mike it bigger so that I can play with detail a bit more.
While designing him I started out with the coloring and ended up with about 32 colors, after seeing what the palette looked like when saving it I decided I should really cut it down. It is now only 20 colors.
I should most likely have started with the palette and then did the coloring.

I've only just started, but I still have an opinion about the general art. In my opinion, it's a fine size as I can still make out the detail. If you made it bigger I think that you'd create a whole different style, and I like your current one. Excellent work :D

The sword looks like a cone / cylinder. I think that things like the chest buckle, has way to much attempted detail for such a piece. you dont want it to be exact at this size it should be more representational. Essentially What i think is off is you are heading into too realistic of a direction with this character. Nothing wrong with that but Its hard to make a small sprite Look very realistic.
Notice how they dont look very realistic but still have style and look good.
If you do choose to stick with what you have. You might think of checking out the Fire emblem series for a more realistic approach to small spriting.
Anyway, hope that helps cheers
