I'm working on fanart of Drakengard 3's protagonist, Zero, because she's so pretty ;_; (An image of her is available http://static2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20131017192132/drakengard/images/3/3c/Zero.png - here .)
I'd like some feedback on composition and also on the hair.
First, here's the concept sketch:

And my progress so far:

I'm not sure if the top flower and bars make it better or not. It looks rather empty without, but maybe that simplicity is good? What do you prefer?
Also, if you have any suggestions on how to improve the shading of the hair, that would be appreciated. I like the hair but I feel like it could be improved...
[EDIT] New progress:

Changed the palette and added other arm! Now going to continue shading the clothing and draw in the dragon. Once Mikhail is in there we can see if the background elements add to the piece or clutter it.

The layout of the one with the BG items is nice but the flower placement reads like a hat.
Just me...hating the palette.

Haha yeah, that's why I'm worrying about the flower XD
If you have suggestions for the palette I'd love to hear them too! I'm not very good with color honestly, so if there's a way to improve that'd be great.

Colors are really personal choices so I was just giving some feedback. The pink ramp is kinda nice but the mauve ramp is dirty and muddy. However, the thing I find here is that its far too monochromatic yet the pink ramp doesn't justify it. Play with this and see the links at the bottom too. Other similar utilities in the links section of the gallery under coloring.

E: All the pieces in your gallery have nice palettes and even very creative ones :/

I just had a freak-out over that link, oh my god. THAT IS AMAZING.
I'll play around with it and adjust the palette. Thanks so much!!
@ your edit: Well, I don't upload the pieces that don't look nice to the gallery ^_^;;

I can't find it now but one of those links allows you to upload your own art. Use a greyscale version for best options.

Made the palette changes and also put in her other arm! Probably going to have a small dragon in her hand.
The image looks much stronger now, with more powerful colors. Thanks again for the link, Jalonso~ ( ˃ ヮ˂)ノ

this piece benefits very highly with a background. Your concept sketch is vastly superior as of now because your pixel technique most notably lines are very poor in the pixel version. You have lots of jaggies and unbalanced lines going on, destroying the nice shapes of the drawing

This piece is still in progress so of course it's not quite refined yet =w=
The only area which has been worked on is the skin+hair. The rest is still in the rough since I was working on composition, placement, and so on before doing detail-intensive work.
