Company

We’re Lunaris, a web development company based in Tokyo, Japan. We’re working on a mobile app/game that combines classic 2D fighting game visuals with an engaging approach to learning Japanese.

Project description

Kanji Battler is a 1v1 fighting game. Players defeat enemies and each other by quickly and accurately entering the readings of Japanese words.
The game takes them on a journey through a world inspired by Japanese culture, video games, and anime.

Here are a few examples of how the art will be used in the app: https://teamlunaris.notion.site/kanji-battler-app-examples - Kanji Battler App Examples

Looking for

Pixel artist/animator with professional experience who can create art in a consistent style and deliver on time (you can set your own deadlines, but we’ll expect you to meet them).
We need multiple people, so if you can cover multiple areas, it’s a big plus. If you’re really good at just one thing — it’s totally fine, too.

We’ll need dozens of:

- NPCs (companions, enemies, and bosses)
- stage backgrounds (animated)
- special effects
- icons for gear and items
- concept art

Characters will be around 64-90px high base size (bosses can be bigger, minions can be smaller). Backgrounds are 240x135px.

Offering

First, we do a paid trial (static sprite + animation if applicable).
If the results are good and communication is reliable, we discuss a long-term collaboration.
