Hello! For some super brief history, AM2R (the fan-made remake of Metroid II) has been receiving updates from a community group of fans since 2017. Our biggest project has been 2.0, a full redraw of the game to replace assets taken from other games.
To accomplish the project, we need some additional help with the artwork. We could use help almost everywhere, but these are the areas we currently need the most assistance:
Backgrounds. We have an artist who excels at these, but the amount remaining is too much for him to do alone. For most areas, these are 1-2 layers that may tile vertically and/or horizontally.
Setpieces. Think items like the statues on top of the Tower or the player sprites for the credits sequence.
Tilesets. A lot of this is “finishing” work where we have an established design but need more pieces added.
So, we’re making one last big push for help. Here’s how it’s going to work: if you are a capable pixel artist who wants to help out, give me a ping or DM on our Discord server (https://discord.gg/YTQnkAJ) with some examples of prior work and I will bring you into our “staging” space where we’ll give you something to work on.
This is a volunteer project with no money involved, and all artwork will be released under CC BY-SA 4.0 upon game release. We guarantee credits inclusion for using artwork. We do have a level of quality to uphold, so please refer to the attached examples of our artstyle.
We recognize this is an insane ask, we're asking for very high-fidelity work with no means of financial compensation. For some reason people keep joining to help though, so I will keep asking.
