Hey guys,  I have decided to put the train and the German officer projects on hold for a while and concentrate on tanks.  The subject seems pretty hot at the moment and I wish to add my work to the fray.  Enjoy and feel free to critique it

The lineart is really nice. But im no expert on tanks so i cant say how accurate it is.

Please change the background color to something more saturated. that bright blue hurts my eyes.

you mean less saturated, grave :P

Jack, I have to tell you, that in all your wips everyone keeps telling you the same things and you just never seem to take some chances and try it out.  While the lineart is nice (though I can't say how accurate is it, either) the whole piece, once again, lacks depth.  You have a good start putting some shadows on the wheels and making the wheels on the other side darker, but it's not enough.  The whole piece is just generally flat.

I would also suggest losing the black outlines on every little detail.  Use values, not outlines to make the details stand out.

I'm sure you've already seen this, but definitelly spend some times studying the lighting and textures Rodder used to make his tank so dynamic and aestheticaly delicious :)

So, basically, nothing new.  I've yet to see any updates from you that go beyond this very, very basic shading.  But again, good luck

Yeah I guess youre right.  I cant seem to get any of what you guys say to sink in.  I honestly try.  I did the camo by myself, if that means anything.  I will try MY hardest to grasp your points.  Also, the tanks I show are all drawn from careful study of the vehicle in question.  Thanks again.

Hey guys, Jack here again.  Just wondering if my work would look better if I changed all the black lines to dark versions of the various colors I use.  This project is my main idea at present.  Its gone through some major changes.  I will post as soon as possible.  Thanks and have a great day!

it definately would. i would even go as far as saying it'd look even better (more realistic) completely without outlines, and only shading

woah...without outlines?  That is an interesting idea.  Hmmm...  I dont know if Im quite ready to take that step...perhaps eventually.  But I will eliminate unnecessary blacks in my outlines.  Thanks alot Snader.

Ok, I figure its best to work on one part of the project then move onto the next part of it so I am focusing on the tank.  Here is what I got so far.  Main thing is I tried a new look for the barrel of the vehicle.  Feel free to C+C it.  Thanks!

Ok folks, this is what I have got so far.  I hope you like it.   Also, the clouds are not set in stone.  I just wanted a feel for the demo.

Ah, so I did achieve what I was aiming for.  Now to apply shading to the rest of the tank.  Thanks Snader.

Jack that is seriously cool. Are you going to make it like a platform game or something? Either way id love to see it in action.

You know, Im not at present.  I like drawing scenes like that.  Right now Im trying to learn different methods such as shading.  Its definently a disadvantage to have no training in those tools.  Hopefully I can improve my stuff to be good enough to post on the gallery.  Heh, one can hope.  Thanks for the remarks!

I copyd the first one to paint, and then putted the second one over it.. doing that 10 times (cntrl + v, del, cntrl +v, del) gives an easy overview what changed.. I did it again, now watchin the men, and the church, but I still do not see any differences.. could you cicle some??? maybe you uploaded the wrong one..

edit:
its the same image file..
number one is:
http://www.gigafiles.co.uk/files/837/German-Panzers-on-the-prowl.png
number two is:
http://www.gigafiles.co.uk/files/837/German-Panzers-on-the-prowl.png
No difference
so you got the wrong file...

he probably just edited the file instead of uploading a new one

I think the frontalism takes away from the realistic feel..

I havent destroyed the other house yet.  There is damage on the church but it too  is not complete.  I will continue to work on  the piece.

Some work done on the houses.  Maybe Im not grasping this correctly.  This is my attempt to make my stuff look better.  If not, back to the drawing board, heh heh.  Here it is.

Are you using photobucket to host images? I had the same problem a while back, all the changes I made to a picture and re-uploaded, I saw the newer one, but nobody else did.

I added some dirt.. it was a pretty clean tank...The edits I made are not based on reality, I have no idea what a tank looks like XD

Thanks for the advice Lollige.  One thing, why did you go over the outlines and what did you do to the camo?  Thanks!

I changed the outlines, because they where very good visible now.. and I made them more camoflated.. The camoflation: zoom in and you will see :)

Hmmmm, I see now what you did.  Thing is, the lines are visible in references no matter if there is camo or not.  Anyhow, here is the latest in the scene I was talking about earlier.  Enjoy!

Serendor, are you...GASP...Suggesting that I switch tanks at this point?  Main issue with that is the colors and styles are different.  The Panther still has the black outlines, etc.  I did want to have it but I felt that it wasnt working for the scene.  If you have any ideas that would be of help, let me know.  Thanks!
