I haven't had a great deal of luck receiving C&C for the contests here so far but there's always next week's! Possibly due to low quality WIPs? :(

But here's this week's WIP, anyway!
Trees should follow in the background after the initial scene is set up.
As always, any input is appreciated!

Vidd your pixels are not the easiest to give c+c to. You're ideas are so over there ------------------> that from here its hard to know what to say. By the time you get there its already in the gallery and to late for technical pixelling c+c which is the only thing I could ever be of help with. I do think you're very creative, don't misunderstand me, this for example is so wierd I'd make more sense on oprah's show talking about menstrual cramps than figuring out your image.

Only one question: why are the trees having happy-tea-time around the dismembered corpse (stump) of one of their own?

Well tea leaves themselves come from trees. This would suggest some cannibalistic nature with these trees. You can't impose your brand of morality on other cultures/species.(It's not politically correct.)

This picture is symbolic of our modern society. We think nothing of killing our own fellow man and take from his body valuables. The dancing represents the constant change found within developing cultures. One tree is taller than the other this hints at how we allow ourselves to seem above the law for the common man. The tea cups are the hospitals of our country, they hold the remains of the dead until they are absorbed into the earth. The most powerfull image however is the tree stump. This represents the future it seems doomed to fall at the hands of the present but even in death presents am obstacle to the living. The smiles are the modern presenting self, we put of masks to hide our true feeling of pain and sorrow.

Realized I probably seemed pretty negative there. Sorry, Vidd. Didn't mean to because I like a lot about this piece. I like your coloring style much. The stances are great (especially the one on the right) as are the expressions (especially the smile on the left).

Just wondering about the stump, is all. Who knows maybe it was Jeffrey, the a****** conifer and they're celebrating his arrival in the lumberyard.

Yes, I generally don't ask for C&C on pieces but I really wanted to get something submitted this time that seemed decent.

Also, I was so surprised to see so many replies. Pity they were mostly about the cannabilistic tendancies of the trees...

Hahaha, this looks cute so far! Just keep posting your WIP as you progress and don't add it to the gallery until you post this thing when it is near completion. Since Jalonso said that you seem to be a little quick to put your pieces in the gallery, just keep it in the WIP thread until you start getting some positive feedback.

BUT ANYWAY. I would say my only problems are that there doesn't seem to be much sense to the droopy tree on the left, the shading doesn't go with the top left lightsource. And also, the tea cups need a lighter highlight and slightly dark shadow. You might wanna try and tweak the shading on it as well, since the lightsource seems to be coming from the above leftish. There doesn't need to be shading on the top of the cups or on the left side of them. That should all be the highlight color. I would also cut off the stump on the left side where the first ridge type bump thing starts.

Lol, I make no sense when I try to critique.

I had no intention of submitting it half-finished and I had actually gone out of my way to ask for C&C. :/ I don't think I have previously other than the other contest contributions which I never entered, anyway.

Also, I'll address those details tomorrow when it's not 11PM!
About the non-sensical shading, I imagined it as being in some sort of clearing so the light/shadow would form a basic circular shape (like the little piece of ground that's already highlighted). That's why both both of their highlights seem to point towards the middle.
The cup shading colours were placeholders but I see what you mean by the stump.

Thank you for your reply. :)

Traditionally, double-posting is discouraged but what if you're posting an update which is several hours after the original post?
Also, I need sleep. :(
EDIT: Thanks about mentioning that delete post trick, most forums that I go to do not allow deletion of posts in that manner.

Nice progress...it makes sense now :D

ps: you can always edit your last post with an update. You can delete one so the new one reads as 'unread'. I found this double-post OK tho :/ Don't worry about it.
