The body looks like it's just metallic play-dough kind of shaped into a humanoid blob. You never want something like that, and if you're making a robot, it's even worse. You should try giving it segments and less curves--make the joints sharply bent and show divisions so it looks more like a robot. The head could also use some more detail; shade and light the mouth instead of making it a line, and give the eyes something more interesting. Little lights, maybe? It'd add a color, but it would also break the monotony and add some life.

EDIT: Typo.

I'm slightly confused, I can see the mouth and the eyes perfectly fine

Well basically, they're not quite obvious enough. Pixel sprites on this size scale usually need exaggerated and very obvious features in order to put their point across to the viewer quickly and easily.

Atm your sprite is quite jagged and 'messy' in places. I'm not sure what to suggest, but i'm sure you can figure it out! Good luck.

you may be able to see them fine, but others may not.  every monitor and its settings are typically different.

[OT]I saw the piece over on pixel, to bad the topic got closed before I got a proper edit in.[/OT]
An edit to show what everyone is talking about. This is designed to be on a light background. The only reason for the need for a bright background is the antenna set it as 1 mid tone colour if you want it to be designed for transparency.

What I have done
I redid the body. Before it was a blob now it looks segmented as you would expect to see for a robot.
The head was reworked. greater emphasis on the eyes and mouth was drawn by isolating them from darker pixels and expanding them. This gives a cute chibi look
The head width was reduced to look more natural and balanced.
As you can probably see the body was the most heavy rework. Use human anatomy to give an idea of how it should look in regards to forms to begin with. Then incorporate more mechanical aspects.

(yours)+(mine)=(yours still needs work)
New one looks a bit better in a few ways but...
RAISE THE GOD DAMN CRUTCH!!!
when facing forward do both of your feet face out to the sides? because that is what his do according to this.
I segmented his body as it makes the blocky square like structure of his shape appear more acceptable. Furthermore design wise your robots head doesn't fit without a somewhat segmented body.

Maybe the image BUTTON doesn't work for you, but the TAGS (just take the periods/full stops out of what metaru posted) will work even for a parapalegic, mentally challenged dwarf rat if it takes the time to use them.

As for the sprite, it's better in the latest update, but you need to kill the outlines. At this size, you can't get any detail that shows it's a robot in if you waste 2/3 of the space on the limbs on outlines. Shade them and show some more complex form, like what zeid did on the arms and chest. You also need some contrast to show the shininess on the metal--give him highlights anywhere the light would hit him, even on his left side.

I agree i think there is still more you can take from my edit. The legs in mine are only just an acceptable exaggerated shortness, yours should be longer.

The hips touching the hands looks wrong, it seems almost as though they are joined. Better portray the separations.

The new lighting you put in makes a lot of your character look flat. Mine isn't a good example of how this can be fixed. Really focus a little more on depth.

The main problem comes in the forms. They are really stiff because of the lack of segmentation. This makes your piece look more like a paper weight then a robot.

this is a new edit of your recent version. It deviates from the design less then my previous one. It should give you more of an idea of what direction to go with.

there is NO WAY they dont work for you, not even possible.  they work the same for everyone no matter the browser, os, computer, whatever.  they are server based.  http://www.pixeljoint.com/forum/forum_codes.asp - read this , and if you still cant do it, there is no hope for you...  seriously, my little 12 year old brother can use it

because you should not click the button after placing the image tags.. you should just place [img.]imageshack.com/sdfkljsdfg.jpg[/img.] and then press post reply and not that image button.

I did an edit to your robot:
I strongly suggest you change the pose or make an animation to make this more interresting.
I also think the legs are short.

I did make an animation 52 frames of animation but then it all messed up and died and then I just made that... but I will make another but I'm wondering what to do
