I don't know whose lines these are but i decided to colour them. I don't know if this style is working or not? Please comment on it. * the style is line shading*

The lines don't have much of a point. It seems haphazard and pointless. It's an interesting choice but poorly executed.

I decided to scrap the line idea and try scales! If you want to change the pallete to suit it, to make it look real please do! I'm finding the pallette extremely difficult. How am i doing?

Well the shading of the scales in general seems well done but you need to identify your light source. That's going to determine which scales get the highlights.

Could you help me sort out my pallette first? The colours are all wrong

Well, one problem is the tone that you're using as the darklights of the scales is far too much like the midtone of the scales. Try making the tones not so alike, contrast them. A hue shift wouldn't hurt either.
