Im starting to make a character I add in my writing, an elven girl/woman. (Yes I like writing)

Okay about half a year in the pixeling gig and I think I know why I'm lacking. I don't put wips up and I do the three noob steps 9 times out of ten:
Lines, Color, Shading.(Big Vomit)
C+C please. I need help with anatomy, stance and the one thing I hate doing more than anything. Hair. Seriously if I really want to I can do animal manes, and fur... But long humanoid always looks weird when I do it.

Mmk, here are some tips. :P
Her chest is way too big for her body, I'm sorry, but it is.
Really important question, if you're going for more realistic: Is she wearing a bra or anything to keep her chest kinda...supported?

Her center of balance is off (because I dont' think you want her to look like she's falling).

The head is a good shape, a tad bit too big, maybe? Depends on her muscle mass, but considering she seems to be fighting, her shoulders wouldn't be super tiny.
Also, thin out her neck and arms, make her shoulders a bit more refined...

The swords...the way she's holding them looks...painful, almost. >.o I'd consider posing, yourself, holding something (preferably something thin and long to match your wip. *nearly called it a doll* -_-;) in front of a mirror to see how you yourself look. (I'd try to get in that pose, too, if I were you, just so you can see the feet positions, too :))

Make her legs a little longer, along with her torso, and then, thus, her arms... Don't have her arms completely straight out, either, make her elbows more refined. :D

Either completely shift her body to the right, or reposition her(!) right leg.

Give her hips, boy! :P Just a few pixels out because of the size, though.

Look at the muscles in your legs. See where they are and apply that to the piece.

Humans are HARD, but you really are doing well so far. :D

And...I'll help you with the hair once you come to it. ;)

Thank you, though I may assure you that holding two swords at such an angle is not painful. At least not for me, but I guess I'm kinda applying my own fighting style to it. And medieval times don't have bras, though woman's armor (which was typically ceremonial) acted like that. She won't have platemail though, just som leather armor, which would also work like that. If I have time I'll fix these things after school.

Just saying because, er, there's a reason girls wear bras. :P

Good luck with it, it does look good so far. :D

Okay What of this?

She won't be holding the swords so generically when I'm done.

The shoulders could stand to be quite a bit narrower.  The balance is good though. :)

Thank you. I had noticed in the last one that if someone had poked her she would have fallen over.

i would use some rought shadowing and a good contrast to define every aspect of her features, since in such small space the attention to details is the key. the anatomy doesn't seem to be bad, and it appears to have a good/natural pose. if you have used references, would be a good idea to post the. if not, two or three will surely be of great help.

She's not actually in battle, its a casual pose is all.

I can see several jaggies, but presumably you will clear that up later.

Personally, I just make sure my pieces are without any jaggies in the first place, so no need to clean it up after.
The pose seems okay to me, but when you do the hands properly, make sure that you can see her left hand, but her right hand should stay like it is.
Kinda hard to explain - at the moment her left hand looks like it's some sort of backhand grip.
You probably already know this stuff, but a lot of people don't.

Of course, I'm not an expert on pixel art - far from it infact.
Anyway, when you colour and shade it, we will be able to crit more.

Oh, and my steps of pixelling are like that too.
Lines, Color, Shading...

The new one is definitely better.

Mm...  ('Tis a rather quick edit, so, for the most part, just ignore her legs completely. I didn't add anything to them, but some of the pixels got out of place.)

Most notable thing I changed: Her legs are going more to the right than the rest of her body is.
