So, lately I've been playing a lot of Osu!, the PC freeware clone of Osu! Tatakae Ouendan and Elite Beat Agents. And I had an idea of doing a pixel art mock-up of it after seeing the "design your DS rhythm game" challenge.

I started working on it with no console or challenge in mind, just wanting to get reacquainted with pixeling. Here are the results so far:

and here's a screencap of the game itself:

Yes, I know they don't look a lot alike. Like I said, I just wanted everything to look pretty.

The colour count on my work is a bit crazy - I tried to be conservative and reuse colours wherever I can, but somehow I ended up with 5 colours for the exclamation mark. Fortunately, its background sign only has two yellows and the white and black frame uses anti-aliasing shades found elsewhere in the picture.

I'm really hoping or some better suggestions for the backdrop and the fonts (both inside the circles and the scoreboard). And if somebody can recommend a more "juicy" colour scheme for the reds I would be much obliged.

Okay, so I'm going to bump this thing with an update, hope nobody minds:

Now with a very shaky zero and a shaky slider. I imagine that the slider will fill up as it progresses and there will be halo around the cursor if it follows it. Or I can make a ball like in the original game.

Sigh, if only I could have an idea for a cooler backdrop.

I like this very much, Though I think that the green has very little contrast with the white and so the numbers are hard to see.

Finally got back to this. Took Jim16's advice to heart and upped the constrast on the green. Changed the numbers to fit with the backdrop letters. I think I'm just gonna wrap this up soon without changing the backdrop. I kind of took a liking to it (plus I suck at doing anything larger than one hundred pixels).
