heres the best reference of a realistic looking tree I could find that showed a clear direction of lighting: http://cordis.europa.eu/esprit/icons/tree.jpg well the main thing is that the tree is made up of big bunches of leaves grouped together. ON the dark side of the tree there are still places on the top side of the leaves that get hit by light, and on the dark side of the tree, the under side of the leaves are still shadowed. So I guess study that and try to make it work in your cartoony version. Also I think you ought to remove the black outline on the cloud. |

Don't worry about the leaves yet. Worry about the shape first. Here, you can see where the trunk goes into the tree. Shouldn't that part of the tree be faced directly to the ground? (according to the perspective it would as well). Wouldn't that make that the darkest part? Your darkest part is even lower than that. Also it means that you can not see the lightest part..

Its just that I decided to redraw the whole tree. It will take some time for me to finish though so I didnt want people criticizing the wold one and stuff. :P Thanks to TheInquisitor for helping me to realize that the old shape sucked. xD Still work on this, will post again when I do a little more. |
