Hi, I haven't posted here in a while but I need some critiscm on my new piece I am working on.
It's called Midnight Bayou for right now until I think of something better.
here is the image so far :
As you can see the lineart is looking pretty good. (Except for maybe the runoff stream, I'm not too fond of that yet.)
I'm having trouble applying a water like texture to the water in the front. I've looked at many references but it's kind of difficult replicate a style of water. I'm also trying to keep the piece under 8 colors. I have those 3 shades of blue currently being used. A dark blueish-purple. And a near-black blue In my palette currently.
I like the 3 colors currently in the pictureso I'd rather not change them but I'll be willing to use other colors different than the other 2 dark shades and the 3 other non-defined palette spots.
Any help os really appreciated. Thanks.

Water's really difficult >.<
Best you can do is look at references, both photo and pixel.
Stock images are easy to find but here's a couple of pixel ones:
http://www.pixeljoint.com/pixelart/29178.htm - fool's castle and http://www.wayofthepixel.net/pixelation/upload/ss09/lollige-elk.png - Elk's Secret Santa , both of which have a pretty low colour count :)

Thanks for the good reference photos Jeremy, I think Elk's will help the most I really need some stale water though.
