Hello everyone. I'm currently looking for some inspiration of people using just black and white colors in their pixel art to create, well, whatever. Just like the style of old Macintosh Classic II graphics, just like the types of halftone patterns used in MacPaint (image below) or hell, in cell phone games of a few years ago. If you guys have come across, or even created some yourself, that you'd like to share I'd be very happy. Call it a bit of a creative slump right now, I need a kickstart of my pixel art again and I need some inspiration. I also remember some java or flash "game" from a while back where you flew a guy around with your mouse into other flying things with some weird "muzzak" in the background. Once you reached high enough in the sky it started over again from the ground. |

Cool stuff. I especially like the leaves on the hedge on the wall. I made some black and white stuff on my calculator once. |

When I was little I had an old mac and all I could do on it was play Othello or use Paint, both of which made me very happy. I used to make "lace" patterns with it, trying to see how big I could make them. The one I've been working on is well over 8mb long and huge. So I'll only put a chunk on here to view. I have rules of making them, but wouldn't want it used as a competition type thing... yet. (That's because a. It's my style and I'm not yet comfortable with others doing it, and b. I'm not even sure you can consider it pixel art if you don't draw 100% of it, though believe me there's alot of work involved) You have to draw (pixel by pixel) at least a fourth of it, it has to be made in something only as powerful as MSPaint, I prefer to use a mouse but that applies to all my work, and it has to be perfectly symmetrical. I'll post a picture of it in the Work in Progress section since it's not near finished and I'm not sure if it ever will be. |

(My other rule is they must be one foreground one background color, but this rule can be changed since they look really cool with more than one.) Well, I guess I can post the smaller ones that are done:
And alot of times, I like to hide faces in them, as you can see in the second one and in the big one I'll post. I also hide things like names, dates, etc. |
