Hi everybody,

my problem is quite simple :
I 've done a picture in pixel art for my avatar, it was first denied because I did .jpeg and not a .gif. There was too many colors. I corrected all this and submit it again, waited for 2 weeks and it is still not good, and I can't find the problem.
This is my inspiration image

And here is my work

Help !

Your image ref link does not work :(

As best as I can recall the reason it was sent back was because a comment or two was left regarding a ref image. It seemed possible that it was a color reduction (based off your gallery quality as a basis).
No reply from you led it to be sent back, to be safe. Unfortunately, several reports were sent regarding questions about it too so again, to be safe, it was rejected.
A possible solution may be to clearly link to ref(s) or even WIP images that clearly show no 'funny bitnez' has occured.

Lets see what others have to say on this thread for now, k.

I happen to have thought the image was ok and only held back because I DO listen to member input and take it into account. Nothing was meant to diss you in any way. The PJ staff also keeps the membership/community in mind too.
I'm on the fence about your avvy because of this dilemma.

*On the bright side you can still use it as your avvy :D

The image looks very distorted to me.

Even tough it maybe was, it looks like you had completely no idea what you were doing / resized this very badly.
the AA(?) is on most parts completely nonsense, and you got 3 very dark shades that could easily be one...
but mostly the weird 'AA' is what makes me vote a no on it. (but I didn't, because I did not see it ;) )

Well here's the bad news: When you get stuff based on other stuff, people tend to jump on the "color redux" wagon.

Here's the good news: It's not a color reduction. The spacing, and the proportions, of the mouth and nose are off, as well as the width of the head is off. Also, there's a definite lack of ears.

Shoot first, ask questions later? (Sorry, I know you're just doing your job, I just found that kinda funny and had to share.)

greenraven, have you noticed that the indent in the pixelled piece's left cheek matches up near perfectly with the indent that the ear makes in the reference image. For me, this small problem makes it quite guilty.

With lowering the colour count and editing it's very easy for the nose to turn completely black and for the eyes to line up, and also for the ears to be completely taken out simply through ignorance.

Sorry JC Denton, could you give us your response to these accusations i have made?

Yeah, I actually have noticed it. Like I said, basing stuff on stuff that's already been done makes these situations kinda tricky.

the quality that the face shows is indeed really good, but seing the horrible/lazy background you put in there is enought for me.
