has anyone ever custom-made their own pixel game (whether or not you went to school for it?) and what are the best (and cheapest) schools to earn a degree in game design? i'm asking because as soon as my skills improve some (still a novice), i'm planning on making a game.
 
also, has anyone work on a pixel game/art for salary or commission? i know times are tough but it would be good to do something that you love to stay sane and i'm just being curious since i spend most of my time either drawing or creating something
 
please post honest comments (no harsh biting ones!!!)

if by games you mean games as "comercial relased games", i could say yes counting cellphone games. if by selfmade free indie games, i'd say no.

Go check out Atooi, Badassbill, Larwick and Squirrelsquid, just to name a few off the top of my head.

There's a job offers/portfolio section if you're serious about making games.
