I've been tossing out sprite bases and outlines like wildfire lately. Some will look great as an outline, but impossible to shade.  Others being great to shade, but impossible to outline or anatomically incorrect.

I think i've found my middle ground.

I used a Breeze color pallette for this version, I think it achieves the cartoony look im striving for.  (does using a color warrent crediting? as I understand colors cant be copywritten, only the names attatched).

These are for a 3 1/4 view rpg, where the lightsource should be coming from the top left, between the player and the screen.

Heres some issues im running into:

- Are the profile(side) versions odd? Should they be a straight on view?

- Is the dark outline Appropriate? or nessecary?

- Should I insert another color between the highlights and the the darkest color?

- Does it look good, or anatomically correct for a cartoonish sprite?

- If this we're your character in a 2d rpg, what would you like to see added/modified?

Thoughts?

Thanks for your constructive critisim and advice in advance,

 ~I
