Who died on the moon.
My WIP, would like some response to how it looks, if its worth finishing etc. Its a play on words, I heard from a friend that there was infact another person who landed on the moon. Was there? who is he? and why have we only found out now? Jim |

I'm done :D
![]() I was going to have 3 aliens pointed guns at the astronaut when he was in his pajamas at night, but I decided to do a Bazooka (left), Flamethrower (middle) [you can kinda see the small blue flame], and Ray Gun (right). I know I suck majorly, and I'm trying to improve :) Edited by NickAlert - 28 July 2009 at 9:45am |

Dhr. Bosch, thanks for reminding us of Méliès!
The film is here, must see! And, well, to my everlasting shame, I had never seen it... so thanks again! So many entries already... are you guys in a hurry? Seriously, all pieces in the gallery so far could really use a few more hours of hard work. |

While we're there, I've been searching for the original images of the classic Jules Verne 1865 books, De la Terre à la Lune and Autour de la Lune. I only found 2 so far. I may have to scan my book! ;-)
And of course, let's not forget Tintin. I had forgotten how beautiful that cover is! |

Dhr. Bosch: yes I've seen it, but it is not illustrated.
I have to disagree with you though about literature: I don't like Jules Verne. I think he was a great promoter of science, and that's important, but he was a rather poor writer, and not really that imaginative. I mean, as a writer, a storyteller. I'm afraid many will disagree though... By contrast, I love HG Wells: he has such a strong, witty style, and really conveys an atmosphere. The First Men in the Moon is a real masterpiece, and that brings me back on topic ;-) I don't know of any original illustrations for that one? Spirou: I'd prefer the left one, but since you go for realism, you should check on photographs, they are everywhere. |

There is still some work on it, but the whole thing is quite funny ^.^
You should add depth to your craters, and the moon shading is quite weird (even if the idea of the hidden part of the moon is very clever). Maybe your lunar inhabitants could be detailed... |

@Spirou: Kinda reminds me of Dex's stuff, the way you rendered :D Since I've got a background this counts as a scene. Right? D:![]() I plan to animate him to say "Aliens"- Is that alright too? :S

I guess it's ok...but you're not really doing yourself any favours with that composition anyway. Maybe less straight on, maybe only show part of his face, maybe have some reflection in his visor etc...
Just remember it's always best to avoid text where possible. ie. "show don't tell". If you can in some way show the viewer visually that there are aliens then I think that would be more compelling than some text somewhere. Also, I think maybe his mouth could be moved up a bit more too... |

Well, an astronaut's helmet visor thing is typically black and very reflective. Perhaps you could add shards of black around the helmet reflecting little aliens?
That would show the aliens and make it seem like they just attacked him and broke his helmet. :D |

Fair enough :)
I was originally going to do a reflection, just been practising lip syncing animation. I'll go with the reflection, methinks.

haha, nice, but you could do it sorta like the real image, but just put like a spaceship instead of the lunar lander.
