   CHALLENGE: Wilhelm Screamer
Design your own fictional creature that makes the sound of the Wilhelm Scream. Try to really think about how the Wilhelm Scream sounds and consider what kind of creature would/could make that noise. The creature must be original and non-humanoid. You may add a background to your image, but it is not required. 

For reference, some samples of real life animal noises can be found here and here

 Canvas Size - Max 256 x 256.

Colours - Max 32.

Transparency - Optional.

 Animation - Optional.
CHALLENGE RULES
Participants have until this upcoming Sunday at midnight (12AM Pacific) to submit their entry (strict). Don't forget to check the 'Submit to weekly challenge' checkbox.
Only new pixels allowed.
Open to all members.
Posting WIPs in this thread or in new threads in the WIP section is highly encouraged, but ONLY SUBMIT YOUR FINAL ART.
CHALLENGE JUDGING
Every Sunday at midnight (12AM Pacific) the previous week's entries are judged.
Every week a new voting poll will be posted for previous week's entries.
Winner announced the following week.

CHALLENGE PRIZES/GOODIES
Top three finishers will receive an award displayed in your PJ gallery profile for all to see and envy.
Top finisher gets to call the following week's challenge...sweet.
'Participation' ribbons will be given for all who enter.

	Very cool WIP but I, personally, couldn't imagine a wolf making that noise. Also the rules say it must be original so I don't think this would qualify... Anyway, I have a couple of Ideas for this comp but I might not get a chance to do it (work, ugh)

So you might be able to do a twist on a wolf, but not just a wolf. I could be wrong however so don't take my word for it...

	Original - What Justin said. It must be your own creation based on your interpretation of the sound. it's ok to base your creature on a wolf, but it should still be distinctly different. In fact I would really discourage people from taking an animal and modifying it a bit. I think the more original your creature the better. And I can assure you no one will tell you that your entry doesn't fit the rules if you make something really out there. My suggestion is to listen to the sound on loop for a bit, just to really familiarise yourself with it, then do some brainstorming/sketching.

	Sure, but only really as a general reference. include a screenshot of your spore Character if you do. BTW, if anyone else wants to play around with the creature creator to get some inspiration you can download the trial version for free here

	@Ergg - I'd rather not have any robotic 'creatures' in ths challenge, but I guess some kind of robot/animal hybrid is ok if you strongly maintain the focus on the animal aspects. I definitely don't want to see any full out robots/mechs/machines etc... Just keep in mind that aim here is to design your own living, organic creature. @ekobor - Fits the sound nicely; I can really hear it Wilhelm screaming now :) @oren - Looks good so far, but where's the rest of it? :s And why such a blindingly bright bg colour? 	@skamocore - idk..but the BG is suposed to be like that because he's kind of screaming and it adds it the frame effect,idk how to explain it but,i like it the way it is :P and the body,i don't know why,i didn't want to do the rest of his body,it seems nice like that,isn't it?

	Anyone can enter as many times as they want. @oren...aww c'mon...give it a nice background...where is he - in a jungle? sitting on a fence? On the moon? It is nice, but I think it would be even nicer with the rest of his body. His body doesn't even have to be birdlike, he could perhaps have the body of a fish or a mongoose. 	This is just a quick idea. It's supposed to be a shrew-type thing. I've been a bit discouraged lately with my pixel art...(l'm stuck in a rut...lol). Does this have any potential? Should I go on? Any suggestions?

	I have a question: The edit to the rules say that *"the purpose of this challenge is to depict a creature* that makes the sound of the Wilhelm Scream as oppose to depicting a character who is shown as making this noise because they are in agony."** Does that mean that I can't have the creature that I'm working on getting his finger pricked by something pointy? I'm asking this because I had an idea of a way to make my entry funnier. @dpixel: It just looks like a mouse to me... the rules require it to be more original.

	So~ Here is where I am so far~ He is supposed to be very dirty, so I'll probably lower the contrast between the shades, and actually get the shading looking good. (That is a giant rain drop, by the way~)

	@Justin - it really should be the sound your creautre generally makes and not just a creature making that sound due to being in some kind of pain. The idea behind this challenge was to transform the sound of the scream into something out of its original context. So it defeats the purpose a bit if the Wilhelm Scream is just transformed into the sound of another animal screaming. Edited by skamocore - 02 September 2009 at 1:19pm

	@Justin - I know it just looks like a mouse. Actually it looks like something between a shrew and a mouse. I posted above that I was looking for suggestions. This won't be entered the way it is now if at all. I put it here in the WIP section for some ideas cuz I dunno. 2nd head? Longer body...then it becomes weasel-like. 	Since these are my last days in the countryside, I decided not to spend them pixelling. No way. So I'll just give my ideas to anyone interested. 1- This creature is a predator, incorporating features from its preys, and luring its next victim by imitating the sound of the last one. The last one was human. 2- Not an idea really, just a hunch.
