Don't use blurring tools or anything like that for pixelart.

First of all, good start. Although I would start off from a fresh plate, (or maybe it's slate) then read some tutorials on pixel art to get started, never distort pictures, start small and you'll get the hang of it. Place pixel by pixel, don't do what ever you did. Good luck

Pixel by pixl means that most of the work done while looking at magnifyed picture - 6x or 8x.
