Well, I love pixel art and I don't make a lot of it. But I certainly appreciate a well animated and lively sprite/pixel art/2D game over any piece of trash horribly rendered 3D Nintendo DS game. Which is why I wanted to just announce how much I love the sprites and animations in ALL of the Mario & Luigi games (Superstar Saga, Partners in Time, Bowsers Inside Story). Of all the games I have ever played, I love the art direction in these games more than any other. Everything is so vibrant, lively, and well animated. I just can't get enough. That is all. Thanks for reading.

I absolutely hated the games stories, the battle system was okay, and the difficulty curve required grinding, but I did really love the sprites.
Now that I think about it, most of my favorite games (excluding the later Megaten stuff) are 2d. Huh. |

Wow! Really? You didn't like them too much? I thought the stories were humorous. I really liked the first one, the second one was pretty meh. I can't put my finger on why I didn't like it as much but it did get boring from time to time. I don't care for the baby characters too much. I am in the middle of Bowsers inside story and I am really enjoying it so far. I loved the battle system, it keeps you so involved, unlike a traditional RPG where you press A and watch the attack.

Yeah, a lot of the story did make me laugh (1337 hammer bros ftw), but in the end I don't think it really worked. It seemed like the humor was just thrown in there.
And I agree, the battle system was one of the cooler ones as far as RPGs go, but I've seen better. |

When picking up Mario and luigi partners in time for the first time a few weeks ago, (Now beaten) I really noticed the vibrant sprites.
I stopped looking in particular after a few seconds, because every dead pixel, smudge, or piece of crap under my screen protector bugs me. |

I've just been playing Partners In Time as well. I noticed that all the sprites have static, grey AA. It looks goofy against dark backgrounds, but so much of the game backgrounds are bright and vibrant that, much to my surprise, it usually works nicely. So much so that I didn't notice it until after playing for many hours. Neat.
