I've been working on a game for an RPG engine called OHRRPGCE (the engine, not the game). Now, I'm working on the title screen and the logo.
Title screen:

![]() I intend to put the logo atop the title screen, but, now that I compare them, I thnk I'll need to scale down the logo. :P Oh, and this is my palette: http://gilgamesh.hamsterrepublic.com/wiki/ohrrpgce-images/d/d0/New-ohr-pal-preview.png

The continents wouldn't shade like that, try and pick up on variations in topography and colours (e.g. deserts). There'd likely be a partial cloud cover too. The stars are a bit evenly spaced, make some constellations!
The colours could do with some work in general. The logo'll probs have to be shrunk, and it needs some AA. |

Why even bother with an 'Earth-like' planet. Just go for something like Uranus that's all lined.

Remember that in space light pretty well only comes from stars.
Think about where the closest star to your planet is. The entire hemisphere of the planet facing the star will be illuminated. Shadows only occur on planets when there is an eclipse, another planet/moon/celestial body moving between the planet and the star. Depending on the distance between each of the elements, the shadow will take a different form. |------|--| Sun, Moon, Earth In this instance, the Moon completely blocks out the sun, putting the earth entirely in darkness. |--|------| In this instance the moon would be insufficient to block out the sun entirely, and would only create a circular shadow. If you are looking at a planet from neither directly opposite the sun (the planet entirely in shadow) or directly in front of it (entirely illuminated) you would be able to see a partial shadow, which I think is what you are trying for? This Picture shows how the planet seems to fade into nothingness when this happens. Erm, as a tl;dr synopsis (sorry for dragging on so long) I'd say take a look at more photos of earth from orbit. |

Massive amount of work done! Fixed the shading (I think), added an arctic continent, totally re-did the stars, taking the constellation suggestion into consideration, added the logo, and a bunch of other smaller changes.
